Iloilo is a province located on the Western Visayas Region, and occupies the southeastern portion of Panay, with Antique on its west border and Capiz on the north. Guimaras can be found on the southeast coast, a province on its own that was once a part of Iloilo.
There are a lot of sights to see, and places like beaches as well to relax. The most notable sights to see here are those architectural forms similar to those old latin American and Spanish Colonial styles.
And most of the well known sights here are the Churches:
1. Cabatuan Church
2. San Jose Church
3. Miagao Church (*The World Heritage Site)
4. Molo Church
So shall we get going?;)

I feel really sad when there was an oil spill a few years back. It ruined the waters of Iloilo. Was it ever restored?

It was a few years back when an oil tanker sank on the coast of Guimaras. But laltely one of my friends went there to Guimaras and he said its getting better there already.
I truly hope they could completely restore the waters of Guimaras.

Allow me to share the pictures of the churches in Iloilo. These were taken last December 2008.
Miag-ao Church. This is the best church in the province. No wonder it is a UNESCO Heritage site.

Jaro Church in Jaro, Iloilo City. This church is popular because it is the seat of the archdiocese and it is the home of Nuestra Seniora de Candelaria.

Tatoy's and Breakthrough serve good seafoods and traditional Ilongo dishes. But of course, don't forget La Paz Batchoy. Ted's and Deco's are your best bets when it comes to batchoy.

Anybody can be tikalon. :) It doesn't depend which province you come from. :) Tikalon means I think is 'someone who speaks or brags a lot."

yeah, anyone can be tikalon, but why is it that ilonggos are stereotyped as such?

Maybe becuase Ilonggos are naturally friendly. It may come off as tikalon to some people.

the trappist monastery in guimaras is a good place to visit. i recall that we had a family retreat at the monastery ages ago, the place was so quiet, the monks were hardly talking if at all. they were praying all day long if not doing their chores or farming. molo church is also called st. anne or sta. ana church if i'm not mistaken, though it's really known to all and sundry as molo church. miag-ao church is very notable because of its rich history, facade and the fact that it's, by and large, well preserved unlike other historical churches in ilo-ilo like jaro cathedral, although it has also seen the ravages of time, was not fortunate enough to retain most of its original structure. go check the links posted in this thread, they're very handy. visit ilo-ilo, you've everything to gain and nothing to lose. :D

the way i understand it, tikalon means liar. i tend to agree with the observation that has been posted in this thread that ilonggos are tikalon or braggarts. they do have the proclivity to brag and if i may add, at times are full of hot air. hehe peace brothers! tikalon is taken negatively by ilonggos and should be used wisely lest you get yourself into trouble :D

Great Photos! What Camera did you use?
Anyway, I had the chance to visit Miagao Church 3 years ago. I loved going to old churches with my sister. How does it look like now? Is it still the same? Or has there been big changes?
