Tagaytay is in Cavite, which is revered as the birthplace of the Republic. Tagaytay City, is situated 688 meters above sea level and has the best views of Taal Lake and Volcano. Upon the mountain ridges are picturesque fruit plantations, flower farms, private gardens, retreat houses and resorts all taking advantage of the city’s cool, near-alpine climate.

Taal Lake and Volcano along with its pristine beaches are Batangas’ best-known attractions. One of the world’s smallest and most active volcanoes, Taal is often called a “lake within a volcano within a lake.” On the other side of the lake is Mount Makulot, which is popular with mountaineers.

I super LOVE Tagaytay. It's one of those accessible places you can go without too much hassle and still feel the temperature drop and pretty sights. It's not expensive there either. So definitely a must visit :D

Try the zipline at Picnic Grove. Ziplining involves gliding along a suspended steel cable, using a pulley and climbing harness. Midway you'll see the gorge in between the two hills where you'll be starting and ending at. A very exhilirating ride. :D

Zipline! AWESOME! How much does it cost and how do you get there?
By two’s, the Zipline costs P250 each. P200 (one way) plus P50 for the picture (two copies without frame). For two-way, its P300. *Prices differ during weekdays*
How to get there : The area could be reached from Metro Manila via the Coastal Road or the South Superhighway. BLTB buses from Pasay, Metro Manila having a destination signboard of Nasugbu or Balayan ply the route passing Tagaytay City. If going through the South Superhighway, take the Carmona exit and drive down through Silang up to the entrance of Tagaytay City.
Travel time : 1 1/2 to 2 hours' drive from Manila.
The Zipline is located at the Picnic Grove. :)

We went to the Palace in the Sky and then someone asked us if we wanted to go to Taal Lake. I didn't regret it. It was a long trike ride (didn't have our own car then) and enjoyed a 45-min boat trip. From there we decided to trek up and the view was spectacular! You can even see some geothermal steam from the earth. We had a refreshing buko juice as we enjoyed the breathtaking view.

Spectacular and educational at the same time. I'd rather go see this place than the zipline which is much more scary than the Cebu's Crown Regency's newest adventure.

That's "VIRTUALLY" no pollution. Its lesser but actually not free. Almost free though. :)
And yes the Zipline at the Picnic Grove is really awesome. And a trip to Tagaytay is really not that expensive. Then you could visit neighboring provinces afterwards, let's say Batangas..? :)

Yes. I agree with most people that said that going to Tagaytay is one of the most budget friendly places to visit.
It's a relaxing place to visit when you had enough of Manila or if the heat is becoming too much to bear.:)
I just wished the the Palace in the Sky could be maintained well or revamped a little. It would be a nice place to celebrate occasions such as birthdays or weddings..... I will not mind the wind.:)

Leslie's is a popular restaurant serving traditional Filipino food. Their bulalo is a must try. I don't have a picture of their bulalo but here are some other dishes being served:

Technically Caleruega is not a part of Tagaytay because it is already in Nasugbu. But a lot of Tagaytay day trippers visit this religious estate because of its spectacular views and nice chapel. This is also a very popular wedding venue.

Bag of Beans has good cheesecakes. In hotels, I would say it's a toss-up between Manila Pen and Shangrila.

It's a sweet place with high ceiling and white-painted walls. Good ambience, too. I had tapsilog ("tapa"--beef, sinangag or fried rice, and itlog or egg) while my sister had pancakes. It's something different than our ususal Leslie's lunch.

I'm really sorry but I'd have to say that the new Robinson's complex for me is quite an eyesore. I dislike the fact that just when I am about to get the feel of the country atmosphere in Tagaytay, the Robinson's edifice just juts out of the horizon blocking the whole view.
I mean I'm all for development and employment and everything but management should consider how these things can blend in with the surroundings. Robinson's should learn from SM Baguio which blended really well with the Baguio feel and view.

Leslie's Tagaytay is a good place to eat if you're in the area. :)
So true, I go there often with my family! Not only do they have breath taking view, the place itself is pretty nice (a great view for picture taking!). You will get to be serenaded by their band that goes from table to table; and you may even get to request for a song if you like but it requires a tip (any amount will do). When we were having dinner there one time, I requested Moonriver and it was so dramatic that matched the great scenery!
You get to choose if you want to eat in a crowded or a more private place in the restaurant. the more crowded place is cozy too with their wood inspired walls and ceilings as well as the tables and chairs. The more private part is a kubo or nipa hut where you can have a private time eating and bonding with your boyfriend or girlfriend, friends and family.
They also have unique and cozy washrooms. They have this deep well like faucets and train rails pathway to the comfort rooms.
Ok, i have said too much about how cool the place is, the most important part is the food and how much the food costs there. The food is great! i suggest you buy their famous Bulalo and it is good for 4 or 5 people. the cost is a bit pricey but very affordable if you bring your buddies to share bills with! http://www.explorephilippines.net/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif

My husband and I enjoy going to different restaurants in Tagaytay. One good Italian restaurant where we dined is Buon Giorno along Aguinaldo Highway. After feasting on pizza and pasta, there's an ice cream scoopery around the area for those with a sweet tooth. :)
