View Full Version : Baguio, The Summer Capital of the Philippines
I have been to Baguio for a fair amount of times and still get amazed by its breathtaking tourist spots. Known for its rather cold temperature, abundance in strawberries and ube, a famous Filipino delicacy, Baguio offers a lot of tourist spots shown below. I hope you guys get a chance to visit this wonderful place! Specially this summer season:)

I so wanna go to Baguio! How much is the trip there like with the hotels & food? For a week maybe?
It's actually a good vacation spot cuz it doesn't cost too much unlike when you go to overpriced provinces which would drain your pockets. When I went there, I stayed at an affordable place which charged 350 per head /night it's similar to a dorm room actually. cozy and affordable though. the cost of food really depends on what restaurant you choose to eat it and how many you are.Food is not that expensive there nevertheless. :) you can pm me and i can give you details of the place where I stayed btw

Me and my friends go to Baguio as if it's just 5 miles away. I mean, it's that accessible and affordable. If you're not too picky w/ where you sleep, Ces is right. You can get 'em cheap. If you're like me who likes it w/ a/c and private toilet and bath, then you'd have to be ready to shell out at least 1K/night. Nice place, nice people. Pinoy,eh!! ;)[/B][/B]
Yeah. Doesn't matter where you stay! You'll be out all day anyway. haha It's a super fun trip getting to Baguio. All the sights and views are really pretty. Really wish I could go there this summer :p

I've been in Baguio before, but I didn't had the chance to visit the strawberry farm because they say it's very far from the city. How can you reach the strawberry farm, by the way?

I think if you get there, you'll get by easily coz I heard that there's a lot of kids volunteering to tour you around.

If you want to go to Baguio City to pick fresh strawberries from the Strawberry Farm the best time is November. You will see baskets full of strawberries being sold all over Baguio, at the Baguio City Market, and even in “pasalubong” (souvenir) counters near the bus terminals.

I've been to Baguio countless times. Have you visited the Tam-awan Village? It's an Ifugao village with charming collection of huts. Getting there is a little tricky but well worth the trip. Once you enter the compound, (after paying a minimal entrance fee) you can explore the grounds which includes an art gallery different huts and areas used for workshops. It has a magnificent view of the South China Sea on a clear day. :)

I've been in Baguio before, but I didn't had the chance to visit the strawberry farm because they say it's very far from the city. How can you reach the strawberry farm, by the way? From Baguio City, take a jeepney going to La Trinidad. Including traffic, yep, it'll take you half an hour. There's a terminal 2 streets away from Hotel Venice.
Don't be disappointed, though. Strawberry-picking doesn't happen all year round.

I've always wanted to go to Baguio. My problem is that I don't know where to stay. Where can I stay that's affordable and yet offers exceptional service and lodging?

Now that our weather here in Cebu is real hot & humid, I always think of going to Baguio. I know that it's cool up there. This is one place me and some of my friends will go. We have listed this down in our soon to be trip in Manila.

That's a nice question. I could have asked the same, too? Why is it cool in Baguio when it is in the Philippines? What makes it cool?

Since Baguio is further off the ground, the air is thinner and thus the layer of air available to hold the heat in.
Tadaaah!! :D Thank you, Knowledge Channel. Hehe

Hhhmmm. Very resourceful person. So, it's really the location at a higher elevation above sea level, that makes the climate cooler than metro. Deserving to be the summer capital of the Philippines.

If you have the luxury to spend some cash, I suggest you stay at The Manor in Camp John Hay. My aunt, mom, and I had dinner at the Country Club and then we had a great breakfast here. The service was great! I really enjoyed it. I think at that time the typhoon was about to come in so it was cloudy during out last day...I almost touched the clouds before we left!

My aunt's home doesn't have one. I don't think it's THAT cold for them to need one. But for aesthetic purposes, maybe some houses do!

Having breakfast at the manor is a really great experience. Cool breeze, nice interiors, and great breakfast spread. I remember our cost per head around that time was P400++ (around $8++).

thanks..

I haven't been to Baguio in quite a while, but my best friend who was recently there said that is has developed a lot. Their SM is a distinctive landmark that blends in with the landscape. It's an open air mall which is something that I am curious to see.
