banana a 2nd loved fruit in manila (well, for me) ; 1st is buko
a good source of potassium.

4oz butter or margarine
6oz sugar
8oz self raising flour
2 eggs
2 large or 3 medium, very ripe bananas
Heat the oven to gas mark 4; 180C
Grease a 2lb loaf tin.
Mash the bananas with a sturdy fork.
Cream the butter and sugar together and mix in the eggs
Mix together the two yellow sludges you now have.
Mix in the flour.
Scrape into the loaf tin and bake for 40 minutes then lower teh temperature to gas mark 2; 150C and cook for a further 30 minutes.
Try to let it cool (turned out on a rack) before you devour it.

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 0 minutes
Ingredients:
* 1 banana, split lengthwise
* 1 scoop each vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream
* chocolate syrup
* marshmallow creme
* strawberry syrup
* whipped cream
* chopped nuts
* maraschino cherries
Preparation:
Place banana slices against sides of long, narrow, shallow dish*. Place scoops of ice cream in a row between banana slices. Squirt chocolate syrup on vanilla and strawberry on strawberry. Spoon marshmallow creme over chocolate. Top each mound with whipped cream. Sprinkle with nuts and top each with a cherry.
* These can be found in your local grocery store. When having a big dinner party, I also use my glass banana split dishes for placing butter around the table.

1 cup saba, sliced thinly
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
cooking oil for frying
1 tsp baking powder
salt to taste
For Rum Butter Sauce:
1/4 cup Anchor butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose cream
2 tbsps rum
How to cook Maruyang Saging In Rum Butter Sauce
In a mixer, lightly beat eggs and sugar until thickened.
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt, and fold into egg and sugar mixture.
Follow with mashed and thinly sliced saba. Stir to turn mixture into a smooth batter.
Heat oil in skillet. Fry patties of maruya until golden brown and crisp.
Make sauce by melting butter in saucepan.
Combine cream and brown sugar and add into melted butter.
Stir until thick and smooth. Let cool and add rum.
Pour sauce over warm maruya and serve.

I love a moist banana cupcake. It is super mouth watering. And for me it is guilt free.
We used to bake a lot of it during high school for my culinary subject.

Speaking of banana.... I love bananacue, turon and combo. Combo is flattened banana, coated with flour and sugar. A perfect treat for a rainy day.

yum! from bananaque to banana chips... I love eating them all! they're even great when you mix it with mango and pineapples in blender with crushed iced... healthy fruit shake!

Here's another banana recipe!! Enjoy! ^_^
Banana Cake
Categories: Cakes
Yield: 6 servings
1 c Butter or margarine, softene
2 c Sugar
2 Eggs, room temperature
3/4 c Milk
3 c Flour
2 ts Baking powder
1 1/2 c Bananas, ripe, mashed
1/4 lb Butter or margarine, softene
8 oz Cream cheese, softened
16 oz Sugar, confectioners
2 ts Vanilla
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs. Mix. Combine flour and baking powder. Add to butter/sugar mixture alternating with milk --beginning and ending with flour mixture. Fold in mashed bananas. Pour into 3 greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans. Bake (in preheated oven) at 350 for 25-35 minutes (or until cake springs back when lightly touched). Cool and frost between layers and sides with cream cheese frosting.
FROSTING: Combine and spread on cold cake.

Thanks for posting the banana split recipe. I am a big fan of banana split of nestle. This way, I won't have to go there in order to indulge in their banana split. :)

I've never heard of combo before.I've encountered a similar banana treat but it's called maruya.

I think Maruya is fried banana with egg! I remembered eating it during merienda time when i was little.

I went to the La Panday banana plantation in Davao about 2 years back. It's a nice place to visit.
I also miss the banana chips from my dad's hometown of Pinamalayan, Mindoro. They're really good.

Another banana recipe...Enjoy!
Banana Muffins
Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter, room temperature.
1 cup granulated sugar.
2 large eggs.
2 large bananas, ripe, mashed.
1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
2 cups all-purpose flour.
1 teaspoon salt.
1 teaspoon baking powder.
1/2 teaspoon baking soda.
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts.
Directions:
Grease 12 muffin cups or line with paper muffin liners.
Cream butter and sugar with an electric hand-held mixer until light and fluffy.
Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.
Add bananas and vanilla and beat until smooth.
Mix together the flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
Stir flour mixture into butter mixture, alternating with the sour milk or buttermilk.
Stir until dry ingredients are moistened then gently stir in chopped nuts.
Spoon banana muffin batter into prepared muffin cups or liners.
Bake at 400° for about 15 to 18 minutes, or until tops are lightly browned.
Cool muffins by turning them out onto rack to cool longer.

Yum! I love Banana split! not only because it is delicious but also it can be shared with someone special! It is a three scooped ice cream and it is more fun if you can eat it with someone! ;-)

Banana is one of my favorite fruits too. It is found anywhere, everywhere in the Philippines. Like what the other posters said, it is rich in Potassium and can be very cheap. :D

i simply like boiled saging saba..
no special stuff to add on, just a piece or two of it will keep your stomach full for a whole afternoon

I agree. My friend told me that when she had to slim down, she just ate Saba. Well I think that's quite logical because if you eat only Saba, you'll eventually get sick of it.
Anyway my point is, boiled saba is really good and satisfying. :)
