Lately, I've heard a lot of people complaining that Boracy's too commercialized now, and that it's not as beautiful as it used to be, so....voila! I give you, the White Island!

The Island is the ideal place for swimming, sunbathing and snorkeling the vibrant reefs around it. Sometimes, it's in the shape of the letter C, sometimes the letter I, depending on the ocean tide. The place boasts a meticulously clean environ. It has the picturesque Mount Hibok-Hibok and Old Vulcan as its backdrop. There is no shade spots on this island, so sensitive folks would be wise to remember sun block and/or beach umbrella.

White Island is a sandbar about two kilometers off the shore of Agoho district in Camiguin Island. The sandbar has no trees and no shade and its sand seems like
Boracay and it offers of great views of Mt. Hibok-Hibok. According to some locales, this sandbar shrinks substantially during high tides so it is best to go in really morning or late afternoon.

It`s really a beautiful sandbar. I found a video which was shared in December `08 at youtube ..

Comment is:
it is actually a sandbar. has no trees, shelter, nor dwellers on it. to get to this place, you need to rent a banca(P450) at yumbing beside paras beach resort. ideal for swimming and sunbathing...

When you say virgin what do you mean?

What ammenities are there?
Do they just drop you off and leave you to fend for your survival?

Virgin island means untouched. It hasn't been offended my loggers and such.

A ferry will take you there from Camiguin. As for survival....well, if you count fishes as wild animals then, yes, you will see a lot of them there. And shells too!:D

Judging by these posts, I bet it's not expensive.
So, how do you get there?
And the tents? Is it first come first serve?
Man, I'll bring my own tent if they allow. haha
Nice place but how about the hotels & stuff?
Bad place to go during rainy season...

there are many cheap hotels with nice accomodations there. "Golden Sunset Beach Club" and Paras Beach Resort are on top of the list.

Yep, I wanna know how to get there as well. Who patrols the island? I mean, with tourists starting to visit the place, how do they control the accumulation of trash? Do they check your bags before you leave for the island to make sure you're just gonna go there to either swim or snorkel?
It's unspoilt resource. It would be a shame if it falls prey to the expected commercialization of the place, and eventual exploitation.
*sigh* Now I'm confused as to what to visit next. :(

I think you have to pay if every you make a mess.GOOD! Or better yet, shipped back to port. Hehe
This is just north of Mindanao, yes? Maybe that's why its not frequented. Judging from the pictures, I think this place is for "getting away from it all". Oh, I just remembered!! My boss goes to this place to scuba dive. I knew I've seen those pictures before.

The White Island is a place to "get away from it all". A quiet place to sun bath, snorkel, scuba, etc. A lot of sunblock is required there though. Expect killer sunburns!

What is the nearest city from Camiguin?

The White Island is the best place I've been to so far.

From Manila, you have to fly to CDO. Then, a 2 hour land travel to Misamis Oriental. From the port, you have to ride a boat for about an hour.

Nung nagttravel kami, parang iniisip ko.. grabe ang hirap pumunta at ang layo. Pero kpag nakita mo na yung sandbar.. it's really worth it. ;)

And they have the best hot chocolate I ever tasted. :D
