View Full Version : Puerto princessa roadtrip to Underground river
We made a family trip to Puerto Princessa way back in 2001. My kids are bigger now and I'd like to take them to the Underground river. But kids are still impatient when it comes to traveling.
I heard they did some road improvements in Palawan. How long is the travel now from the city to the underground river?
Back in 01 it took the trip about 4 or 5 hours just to get there.
But once you are there its worth the visit.
Im hoping the trip is much quicker now.

How much is the cost to visit the underground river? How can you get there? Thanks! :)Don't know about the cost but this is where the Subterranean River National Park is: It is in Bahile, Puerto Princesa 81km from the city proper. You can reach it through Barangay Cabayugan to Sabang, from where one could take a pumpboat ride to the Underground River, or hike through a monkey trail. An alternative way to reach the river is through a hired pumpboat ride from Bahile wharf. Travel time through Barangay Cabayugan is 1 1/2 hours' jeepney ride and 10 to 15 minutes’ pumpboat ride or 1 1/2 hours’ hike.

We rented a van from the area. From puerto princesa I think it only took as an hour to reach the place where you rent a boat to bring you to the underground river.

From puerto princessa, you got to reach Sabang town ( the town where the underground river is located). The travel is around 2 hours from Puerto Princesa.

This place is amazing even on T.V. I was amazed how nature works and beautifies the surroundings. Puerto Princessa's underground river is a masterpiece. It is a magnificent work of art.
