Panglao Island is located at the southwestern tip of Bohol province. It boasts of a long stretch of white-sand beaches embracing crystal-clear and blue waters.
Panglao is easily accessible from Manila and Cebu. From Manila, one can take a one-hour flight to Tagbilaran City, the capital of Bohol. It is another 90-minute drive from Tagbilaran to Panglao. From Cebu, one can take a 90-minute trip by sea aboard ferry boats toward Tagbilaran. Then, a jeepney or a taxi will take you to Panglao for a reasonable fee.

There are also about 250 new species of crustaceans and 2500 new species of mollusks found in the island.

That's why when we went to Cebu, we felt too lazy to take the ferry ride to Bohol. But now that I have the info, BOHOL, I'M COMING FOR YA!!

If you're going to Panglao Island, I suggest you pick a place along Alona Beach. It's white sand and clear waters. You can see jellyfish, starfish, schools of fish!!! You have a lot of options in terms of places to stay and food to have, too! Walk toward the side of Alona Palm Beach coz they have a very nice shore.

When we were there, we also went to Hinagdanan Cave. It's a 30 min ride from Alona Beach by tricycle. It's uderground and sunlight passes through several holes from the ground. You can actually take a dip inside but be warned coz the water is cold! There's stalactites, stalagmites, and bats inside.

If I am not mistaken, the direct flight is from Manila to Bohol, particularly Tagbilaran City. From there it's about 20 mins drive by car from the airport to Panglao Island. You can check out www.cebupacificair.com (www.cebupacificair.com) or www.zestair.com.ph (www.zestair.com.ph)for daily flights.

Sure, filz_33. Well I could only speak about what I know around Alona Beach (there are several beaches in Panglao Island but Alona is one of the best!) For others, please feel free to post, too!
Basically there's no fee to enter the beach. Most affordable accomodations are about 25 meters away and up. One place that I know is Citadel Bed and Breakfast. I think this is one of the cheapest there. The lowest rate is almost 600 for a fan room. The aircon room is 880, I think. The thing is, you have to walk from there to the beach (more or less 5 mins). Pro:cooking utensils available so if you have a big group and wanna save some money on food, this is ideal. The Con: it runs pension style---meaning you share bathroom with the whole floor. This is fine if there are only a couple of guests.
We checked other accomodations. There is an apartelle near the entrance to the beach. Aircon rooms are basically 1,500 to 1,800 ($33). It's not beachfront but it's a stone's throw away. But of course you can't expect luxury...it's very basic. The pros: near the beach and you get your own bathroom.
By the way, most of the cheap accomodations don't have TV and hot shower.
I saw on the net once that Oops Bar has some nipa huts for rent at the back. Con:No aircon. Pros:it's about ten steps from the beach. This is for about a thousand bucks ($22).
The last time I checked Playa Blanca is also a thousand bucks.

Thanks for the links..was quiet helpful...Ananyana looks amazing..but still not within my budget... maybe next lifetime.. I more the back packing type...a resort doesn't have to be so posh to go well with me.. do u know of any other beaches i could stay at that aren't so pricey? thinking more of roughing it out.

Here's the link to Citadel Alona Inn. It's non-bachfront but it's easy on the pocket. Just scroll up for some of the infos I've already given.

I think this is about 1,600 per night on peak season. I couldn't find an official website, sorry.
Here's a link (http://www.bohol.ph/article75.html) to some suggested places to stay in Bohol. Contact numbers are also available there.
Hope this helps!

I thought so, too. but then again you can even just walk around and find out there are apartelles and rooms for rent. Of course that's for the budget-conscious ones. Then there are quite expensive accomodations as well. Some says that Bohol is more expensive than Boracay but Bohol have better dive spots and I think it's worth it.

I just hope Bohol - particularly Panglao Island - could keep it's laid-back air. Hope it won't be too commercialized. It's got that native enchanting charm that I would always love to come back to.

bohol. i loved the place. the beach was really nice. I heard that the sand used in cebu's shangrila hotel was "imported" from bohol.
here are some pics from bohol beach club.

How inexpensive? My friends went there and had spent 10 k each. What's the safe budget range for visiting bohol, in cluding transportation, food and accommodation?
