How to get to Banaue Rice Terraces:

From Manila there are air-conditioned buses that go straight to Banaue, The trip takes about 9 hours. The Dangwa Transit have daily trips to Banaue Rice Terraces. Their terminals are located along Dimasalang St., Sampaloc, Manila and Aurora Boulevard, Cubao, Q.C. (Tel# 731-2879 & 410-1991). Also plying the Banaue route is Auto Bus (Tel# 735-8098) with terminals at Espaņa Blvd corner G. Tolentino St., Manila. The bus leaves at 10 PM daily and arrives at about 7AM. From Baguio City, there are also buses going to the Banaue Rice Terraces.

The trip will pass through the provinces of Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya then to Ifugao. Accommodation is no problem, there are several inns in town like the Banaue View Inn, the Banaue Hotel and other lodging houses with reasonable rates. Some private homes also accept tourist and transients for a lesser charge.

For souvenirs, do you suggest I just go down to Baguio city for it or is getting them in Banaue cheaper? Thanks! :)

If you are looking to buy souvenirs such as customary Ifuago weaved items as well as carvings that are made of wood, you can purchase these at any local souvenir shop in banawe. These souvenirs are made by hand by the Ifugao people.

I suggest you stay at the Native Village Inn. It is overlooking Banaue's famous rice terraces. I think it's your best lodging option in the area. It's offering authentic native cottages without sacrificing Western-class amenities.

My professor once shared in our class about her trip to the then one of the 7 wonders of the world hagdan hagdan palayan of Rice Terraces. She was kindly accomodated by the Mangyans, I'm just not sure how much they paid for their stay, but what she told us is that it is breathtaking, seeing how our ancestors was able to build something so beautiful without machines or anything. If you are planning to go there, she also suggested us to prepare for a long long walk and wear your most comfy footwear!

Errr, I'm not sure but your professor might have wandered in the wrong direction. The Mangyans are in Mindoro, the Igorots are in Cordillera (of which Ifugao is a part of).

I guess she's referring to Batad or other remote towns that have more beautiful rice terraces, but not easily accessible. Banaue's rice terraces, no need to walk for long as they can be viewed from the town proper or for a better vantage point, at Viewpoint. In fact, most hostels/inns in Banaue have rooms facing the rice terraces.

I was told that the view is breathtaking. I dont know if it's still true until today. Im imagining it's more populated now.

If I go there for a vacation, what are other activities can i do or places to see?
