So here's a really beautiful place I'd recommend. Sagada is a mountain travel destination where visitors can go caving, hiking, backpacking and camping.

Here are some pictures to give you a glimpse of Sagada's majestic beauty

How do you reach Sagada from Manila?

Manila – Banaue – Sagada

The Autobus Liner has daily trips from Manila to Banaue. A bus leaves at 10pm, but during peak season as many as three buses are available. A ticket regularly costs Php462 and much lower during off-peak seasons.

AUTOBUS
1455 Loyola St. corner F. Cayco St., Sampaloc, Manila.
Contact nos.: 4934111 / 0921-2685526

The trip from Manila to Banaue lasts 9 hours with 3 or 4 restroom stops along the way. Don’t expect luxury from these restrooms. These are all public toilets and are poorly maintained.

You should take advantage of these stops, though, even to just stretch your legs.:p

There’s really nothing else you can do during the long trip but to sleep. Because you’re on the road at night, you won’t be seeing much view outside your bus’s window. So just recline your seat, pull up your blanket and dream away.

You will arrive in Banaue at around 7am. If you’re planning to return to Manila through Banaue, reserve a return ticket as soon as you got off the bus.

Banaue Rice Terraces

Jeepneys (and one time, a bus) are waiting right in the bus terminal for people going to Sagada. It will cost you Php250. Be warned though, that the drivers would only agree to take you to Sagada if he gets at least four passengers. Any less than that and he would ask that you hire him and his jeepney instead. If that would be the case, get ready to pay P1,500 at least.

If you leave the bus terminal at 8pm, expect that you’ll be arriving in Sagada at noon. The trip lasts that long only because the jeepney driver will take you to a restaurant where you can have breakfast and then to the view point where you can see the grandeur of the Banaue Rice Terraces.

Take note. You will find at the view point a group of old Ifugao people dressed in bright native costumes. If you want to have your picture taken with them, ask first before you shoot then give them a small amount. Php20 to Php50 should be enough.

Later you’ll be passing through the city of Bontoc, the capital of Mountain Province. From here it will be another 1 to 1 1/2-hour drive to Sagada.

Just wait for the air to get cold and you’ll know that you’ve finally reached your destination. :D

As I read what you have written about Sagada, I can imagine the trip of Piolo Pascual and Judy Ann Santos in a movie they made together and there was a part of the movie where they travel to Sagada and it was already night time when they reached the area. The next morning when they woke up and had coffee, Juday was amazed of the sight of the terraces. Stunned as she was, I did see also from the movie screen the magnificent rice terraces where the camera was focused. Wheew! Sometimes, it pays to see a Tagalog movie as they feature some of our tourist spots, too, like this one.

There's St. Joseph's inn.it’s located on a hill, when you step outside of the inn, you will get a nice view of the town of Sagada including the mountains surrounding it.

Btw, A safe budget would be 4K. Not including the pasalubong ^^

i've been to the two famous caves in the Phil, sagada and the underground river in palawan and i must say i enjoyed the sagada caves more because it is such a challenge to get inside the cave than the underground river where you get to ride a boat going in and just marvel at the rock formations. there are plenty of inns and bed and breakfast in sagada that you don't even have to worry about running out of a place to stay. just ask around when you get there. only trouble is, last time i was there about 4 years ago, there is no hot shower. and if you're already in the area, might as well visit the banaue rice terraces. makes your trip to the cordilleras more worthwhile

Where's Sagada?

sagada is a town of mt province, the easiest way to get there is to get to baguio city first, then it's gonna be 6-8 hrs drive to sagada. if you want to see all the interesting places there, you have to stay for at least 2-3 days i would say.they have several caves to explore, waterfalls, the hanging coffins, mini rice terraces. when i was there and stayed 2 days and 1 night including travel time, i only got to see the big cave and the hanging coffins. be prepared to do a lot of walking so bring a reliable hiking shoes

^^ It's about two hours away from Baguio via public transpo (mini-bus, non aircon). It's a smooth trip but it's quite scary since it's quite steep. Kudos to the drivers!

Sagada, Mountain Province is a favorite destination for its natural wonders including Ifugao’s rice terraces, hanging coffins, waterfalls, lakes and many caves.

Sumaguing cave one of the largest in terms of breadth and depth. The thing that blows my mind here is the contrast of textures between the mineral formations with its soft flowing textures and the limestone wall to the left and how its rough and rugged feel gives us that two sided dimension.

How to get there:
Once you are in Sagada , get a guide at the Sagada Municipal Building. There are actually 4 main guides. Nobody is allowed to go to the cave without a guide and without registration. There has been some incident of a foreigner who went on a solo trip and couldn’t find his way back to the cave opening, he was evtually found dead. So safety is the primary concern of the people in Sagada and the guide cost is quite reasonable.

Guide fee: 250 -350 PHP per person. Each 4-5 person will require a guide, depending upon the number of persons. Additional Gas lamp is 50 PHP. Bring your own snacks, camera with waterproof prtection. You will encounter some waist deep water inside, so it’s advisable to bring along a waterproof pack with a of change clothes.

Lumiang is home to over a hundred wooden coffins carved out of pine tree trunks, stacked against each other, some of which are centuries-old. Some are as short as 3 feet, since pre-Christian Sagada Igorots were curled up into a fetal position before being placed in their coffins. The cave is also home to a handful of insect-eating Swallow birds.
