My friend gave me a quotation of expenses, and it cost them only less than 15k for four days and three nights for two pax. They went everywhere! And that budget also included food and miscellaneous expenses. :)

Ayt, so Php5K++ doesn't include airfare ('cause it says up there other flight expenses). But NO MATTER, if I can get a 4K roundtrip airfare, that's still not bad for a trip to Palawan. Thanks a lot, Wander!!

One of my buddies got married by a local from Palawan.
The air travel was only on certain days though. They flew Asian ais something is that still the only carrier to that place?

As usual, only the rich local tourists can afford to go there. There should be separate rates for international and local tourists. Sometimes, this is the reason why most of us Filipinos wouldn't have the chance to really go our way out and see our own beautiful tourists spots.

Filipinos should be proud of this place just like they are proud of their Manny Paquiao. :)

Our DIY trip for 4 cost less than 15k (excluding food and shopping). I thought it would be really expensive but I was wrong. :)

Coron, Palawan is not expensive at all if you only know when to look for bargains. :)

Coron is a beautiful place. It absolutely captivated me. It's not so much the beach, but the lakes inside the island. The composition of the island itself, and the view from the perch above makes it stunning. The water is blue green, there are many snorkeling sites around the area, and the beaches have powdery white sand to rival Boracay. However, the drawback is that you have to rent a banca to go to Coron island and enjoy the beach.

Coron has many cheap accommodations. The most expensive hotel in Coron as of March this year was The Princess of Coron, which was about P1300 a night for 2 pax. You can also google their website. Since Coron town is a town, the accommodations (with aircon) are cheap, and those without aircon are even cheaper.

Food is cheap especially fish! People are friendly and accomodating, and yes, if you are fond of nature, Palawan is the best place to go! I will never forget the island hopping and the visit to Sabang underground river.

As usual, only the rich local tourists can afford to go there.

I think we should be specific. Palawan is a big province and based on my Puerto Princesa experience, rates (accomm, transpo, meals) are really reasonable. I spent about 5.5K all in for a 3d/2n trip, and that's because I traveled solo. Had I been with a companion, I'm sure I would have spent less. Maybe you were referring to Club Noah Isabelle or Amanpulo which are really expensive.

There should be separate rates for international and local tourists. Sometimes, this is the reason why most of us Filipinos wouldn't have the chance to really go our way out and see our own beautiful tourists spots.

IMO, this is true in the past. But, in the last 3 years or so, with the advent of low cost carriers, rehabilitation and/or opening of highways (including nautical highway), and access to info through the internet, local tourists have equal chance for domestic travel as foreign tourists.

As mentioned above, all we need to do is search or wait for promos. Every now and then, airlines have special promos --- P1++, zero fare, etc. --- take advantage! In looking for a hotel, maybe we can consider a basic room (bed, T/B probably with A/C) instead of a room with cable, telephone, wi-fi, etc. In moving within an area, maybe we can hire a tricycle or jeep instead of car or van. We can also try the local "carinderia" and shy away from fast food chains.

There are lots of ways to minimize trip cost without sacrificing comfort, safety and security. All we need is to venture out of our comfort zone. ;)

Is it ok to bring along my small pet dog?

If the airline or shipping line will allow it, why not? In the case of air travel, I think you have to make prior arrangements with the airline and the dog will be placed in the baggage area. I'm not sure if you need to secure permits, etc. but definitely there are fees you have to pay. For a short vacation trip, it might not be worth taking the dog with you. Aside from the cost, the plane ride might stress the dog.

After checking in a hotel, we went around Puerto Princesa following the guided tour of the city government. I found out that there were some very good quality handicraft products. I bought several pieces which captured my admiration and it's very affordable. We were satisfied by our guides and this is one good aspect of the tourism program in Palawan.
