Philippines is a really beautiful country. I am Pinoy and every month or so, this country still doesn't fail to amaze me.
Which resort is this, Megan? Does it look like this everywhere in Negros Oriental?

Dumaguete is known for its delicious baked goodies. The old time favorites are the Sans Rival and its cookie version, the Silvanas. Sans Rival Cakes and Pastries sells delicious, mouthwatering, and irresistible cakes, cookies, pastries, and other goodies. The Sans Rival and Silvanas are the house specialties that have been the favorite of Dumaguete residents as well as tourists.

I'm from Negros but from Occidental. I would love to visit Oriental!!! How far are those islands from each other? Can it be traveled by land?

The first picture is the sandbar in Manjuyod, around 2 hours from the city of Dumaguete. During low tide, a 7-kilometer stretch of pristine white sand seems to float right in the midst of Bais Bay’s sparkling blue waters. Known among the locals as White Sand, this strip of beach is a popular destination for families on vacation. It is also a stopover point for dolphin and whale watching cruises of Bais City because of its proximity to Tañon Strait.

The second picture is Apo Island in Dauin. From Dumaguete City, Apo Island can be reached by a 30 minute road trip to Malatapay, Zamboangita. From there a motorized outrigger will take you across to Apo Island. Diving in Apo Island is perhaps the best marine adventure in the Visayas Region. Beneath the clear sparkling blue waters of the island lies a breathtaking collection of over 600 documented fish species and 400 varieties of corals.

The third picture is the Balinsasayaw Twin Lakes. Tucked away in the remote hills of Sibulan are the Twin Lakes of Negros namely Lake Balinsasayao and Lake Danao. A good 45-minute drive on a winding road will lead you up to the extensive rainforest ecosystem that surrounds the lakes.

This portion of Sibulan is said to be the home of a remarkable number of 180 species of trees, 113 of birds, 27 mammals and 49 reptiles and amphibians, making it deserving to be dubbed a Natural Park.

Activities like kayaking, horseback riding, and trekking can be done. They have picnic cottages, restrooms, snack shop, camping grounds, and a souvenir shop.

In Canlaon City , summer capital of Oriental Negros which is 165.7 kms. From Dumaguete City . Canlaon volcano stands 8,085 ft. above sea level. Its cool atmosphere gives a similar setting to Baguio in Luzon .

The park is the location of the island's only active volcano, which straddles Oriental Negros and Occidental. The park has several herds of wild Philippine spotted deer, and guides are available at Canlaon City

Dubbed “Cuernos de Negros” or Horns of Negros, this mountain can be reached through Valencia or Calungan, Bacong. It has five lakes in the vicinity. It is the object of mountain climbing enthusiasts. A group of 250 national mountaineering club members made a climb last April 1990. Its virgin forests, orchids and lakes is a beauty to behold. There is no peace and order problem here.

Estimated nine (9) kilometers west of poblacion, 1,800 meters above sea level, the highest peak of the Cuernos de Negros. Nature trails need experienced guides. Rich variety of flora and fauna including rare species of wildlife. Cascades and lakes.

At just under 2,000 meters, this towering peak makes up one crown of the famous Cuernos de Negros, the mountain range that provides the infamous backdrop to the city. To summit the peak, an overnight hike is necessary, and guides are available at the Island Life outdoor store in Dumaguete, or through the Valencia Municipal government.

Located 1 km. from the Poblacion Municipal Hall of Mabinay. Cayaso cave goes down 20 feet into a winding path of stone and behold, a gushing underground river of potable drinking water without a visible outlet. Stalagmites and stalactites in different chambers with stone that glitters. The length is 3 km. The width varies from 6 feet or wider.

Two of the 22 caves in Mabinay has intricate natural limestone formations and interesting sights. It is only a little distance from the main road, 15 kms. from the Mabinay Poblacion.

A team of 15 Dutch cave explorers found in Mabinay the longest cave in the Philippines, the Odloman Cave which is mainly for adventurous spelunkers or mountaineers
