Sisig is one of the pulutans or best bud of your ice cold beer. It's a Pinoy dish believe to have originated in Pampanga made out of pork, usually with calamansi and red chilli. This dish is so popular I'm surpried there's a "Sisig Festival " held every December in Angeles, Pampanga.
Back in college, my friends always order sisig wherever we go in the quest to find the best sisig.
So....where's the best sisig place for you?

You should try Sisig Hooray. Their sisig tastes really good! And it's very affordable too! :D

Ive tried a lot of sisig in the metro. But a sisig restaurant near my university (ust) really made my day because of its taste and crisps. Check this out, this is along espana manila near maceda st.

^Hisbenz, could you please tell me the name of the place where I could buy that sisig along Espana.
I like the crunchy type. The best I've tasted so far is Jerry's.

I've been around and I JUST LOVE FOOD so needless to say, I've tried more than a hundred (no exaggeration there) different restos where sisig is served. Gerry's Grill's sisig is nothing compared to Angeles City's sisig. When you go there, just ask where the "riles" is (railroad track) and you'll find almost 30 stalls for sisig. The best!!

I believe that the best Sisig is the one in Pangasinan or Pampanga. I really can't really remember since it was just a stop over. I really cant remember where I am confused between the two.
Second was the one in our town. It was just a small restaurant named "Libreto"
Third is from Gerrys Grill.
Well since a lot of people here is saying that it's from Pampanga then, it could be in Pampanga.

These are my top favorite sisigs ever:
1) Aling Lusing in Angeles, Pampanga - this is the birth place of the sisig. Too bad Aling Lusing just recently passed away. Anyway, if you want a taste of the real thing, this is it.
2) Dencio's sisig - this is one of the crunchiest sisigs ever. Plus it has egg for a creamy texture to balance the crunch. Definitely good with a Red Horse beer or San Mig Light
3) Gerry's sisig - the sisig that started an empire. Also crunchy and delicious!
4) Congo Grill - they claim to have one the best sisig award (or so they say on the banners placed in their branch in Ortigas). It is atually good especially when paired with their squid ink rice
5) Trellis - although I haven't eaten here in a long-time, this has been long regarded as the benchmark of sisig in Manila way before Dencio's and Gerry's took its place.
But remember, make sure to order a round of veggies to counteract the cholesterol from the sisig!

I am not really a fan of sisig until my mom took home a sisig from Sisig Hooray. Then I started to love sisig. That was the best I have tasted so far. They offer three varieties, Pork, Chicken and Bangus sisig for a very reasonable price.

Anywhere you get sisig, it is still best with an ice cold alcoholic beverage such as beer. I don't know why but they just seem to go well together.

i agree with kookay in one of the earlier posts. trellis' sisig is my fave. trellis has set the standard for sisig and i've tried many of them - gerry's, dencio's, conggo, pier1, giligans and some others. a few friends cook sisig but theirs can't even come close to trellis' sisig and they are already good cooks at that. honestly, i haven't been to trellis for the longest time and DUNNO if they're even still in business.

I'm also from UST and we really enjoyed the sisig at Almer's.. popular saying in school: If you're a Thomasian you have got to try Almer's Sisig! :)
It's perfectly served with mashed potatoes on the side plus bottomless gravy! yummy! :)
sisig hooray! in Megamall food court

i had been to almer's, and i must say they do serve good sizzling dishes. there's always a wait during peak hours (lunch), the place isn't big enough to accomodate the hordes of hungry students around this time of day. almer's location is a sorry one, in some inner street but heck, as long as it's daytime and you're with a group, it doesn't pose any problem. food isn't the only thing that makes going to almer's worthwhile, it's the pretty faces too my friends, lots of it. :D

There's this one sisig place in Manila near La Salle, that I was fond of going to. It was this small carinderia, but man! do they serve the best sisig that could pretty much feed 4 people that's not even gonna cost you more than a hundred! I don't know if it's still there though.
The other sisig places that i could think of is Gerry's Grill and Dencio's.
