Zambales is really good for beginners because it has beach breaks. One good place is Crystal Beach break. Nice locals and great waves.

Surfing sounds fun. How much do surf boards cost for rent btw? I really wanna try it sometime plus, Zambales is pretty accessible compared to other farther surfing spots.

In Zambales, they pretty much rent out boards for 200/hr. instuctors are also available for 200/hr. In Crystal Beach, they have a fixed price of 400/4 hours and 800/8 hours. :) Try it!! It's so much fun!

Some Zambales pictures. This is in San Felipe, Zambales. Not too big waves. Great for beginners. :)

What's the difference between skim board and surf board? I think skim board is smaller, right?

Is surfing hard to learn? It looks really fun, and I really want to try it. However, you don't get a lot of good waves in all beaches. What can you suggest?

By the way, is that you riding the waves wanderlust? :)

I'm in Cali right now & I can't stand a minute in the beach coz it's too cold for me. That must be fun.

Hahaha nope it's not me. I'm a girl, Megan. :) My pictures were lame. Baby waves barely three feet high. haha! So I dare not post them! Skimboard I think you just do that on the shore. You'd get a lot of wipe outs before you can stand on the surf board but it's so thrilling! We're going to Baler, Aurora next! :)

Do they have contests or something?
Yes there are several surfing competitions. These competitions are usually held in Siargao. I would love to go to Siargao but but they have reef breaks. Not good for beginners like me. Maybe when I become a pro. hehehe

Hahaha wipe outs are fun if you get minimal bruises and cuts. I had like ten wipe outs before I was able to stand on my board... then wipe out again! lol

The longboard is the best for newbies. Helps one balance more steadily.

Of course! I had totally no idea on how to surf. Plus, I'm not eveb athletic. Don't worry, the instructors are very patient when it comes to newbies. :)

Yes there are many nice places around luzon that are more close but they dont have the consistent waves as Siargao have. THe famous cloud 9 break is just one out of 20+ breaks you find around the island. The accommodation and food is also much cheaper here then on many places on Luzon. Now cebupacific does two flights a week from cebu so even if you are in manila you can go over the weekend and it will only take you 3h to get there with connection.
